CRAFTING WITH CONSCIENCE

We understand the responsibility that comes with luxury fashion. That’s why we empower our clients to create stunning samples with minimal waste. Our meticulous pattern placement maximizes fabric usage, ensuring each precious inch becomes a part of your masterpiece. Additionally, we responsibly handle leftover materials by returning all off-cuts and unused components for proper recycling or upcycling.

Furthermore, we promote local sourcing whenever possible. This not only reduces the carbon footprint associated with long-distance transport, but also supports thriving communities within the domestic textile industry. By working hand-in-hand with ethical suppliers, we ensure exceptional quality and responsible practices go hand-in-hand with each exquisite sample.

Legacy Stitches, Modern Values

We have over 20 years of experience in the luxury garment manufacturing business. All of our employees are highly qualified professionals in garment making and luxury techniques – crafts which are not cultivated in the modern fashion industry. We encourage domestic production and have previously worked with university students to professionals with established brands.

For over two decades, we’ve been guardians of luxury craftsmanship, preserving techniques rarely found in today’s industry. Our atelier nurtures a team of highly skilled artisans dedicated to minimizing waste and maximizing the potential of each precious piece.

We champion domestic production, fostering lasting relationships with local suppliers and universities while empowering young designers to embrace sustainable, responsible practices. Our commitment extends beyond samples, as we actively advocate against modern slavery and advocate for fair treatment of garment workers everywhere.

Beyond exquisite details, we offer consultations, guiding clients and aspiring entrepreneurs on the path of ethical business and achieving the highest quality standards. Together, we redefine luxury – where timeless skills weave a future free of exploitation and environmental harm.

Witnessing Talent Bloom: Wenona Pillai's Graduation Collection

Today, we’d like to shine the spotlight on a rising star, design student Wenona Pillai. With graduation just around the corner, we’ve had the privilege of working with her on her stunning collection.
Wenona’s collection is pushing boundaries in fabrication use by seamlessly blending the crispness of shirting with the sophistication of suiting. Their collection, inspired by her father’s old wardrobe, is a testament to her family roots with a modern spin of deconstruction and combining different textures in womenswear.
From Sketch to Runway-Ready:
The journey began with Wenona’s innovative sketches. She translated those visions into reality, meticulously crafting garment mock-ups (toiles) that allowed for on-the-fly adjustments to achieve the perfect silhouette. For final garments, we worked alongside Wenona to strike a balance between flowy shirting and structured suiting.
Beyond the base structure and the deconstructed shapes, the collection truly shines with its fabrication and detail. Wenona’s unique pocket constructions and button plackets presented exciting challenges. Our team thrives on such opportunities, and we relished meticulously replicating these details, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship throughout each piece. Blending diverse fabrics isn’t always a smooth ride. When technical hurdles arose, like achieving the desired drape for heavier fabrics, we worked hand-in-hand with Wenona to find solutions. This open communication not only addressed technical aspects but also elevated the overall design language of the collection.
We’re thrilled to see Wenona’s vision come to life! The finished garments are a testament to her talent and our collaborative efforts. From the perfectly tailored lines to the stunning details, each piece showcases the dedication and passion poured into this project.
We’re excited to see where Wenona’s journey takes her next! Their talent is undeniable, and we have no doubt she’ll achieve incredible things.

Sheering the Norm: Andrea Roman's 2019 Collection

Another one of our favourite student initiatives was Andrea Roman and their collection made that year a whirlwind of creativity.
Andrea Roman’s vision was unlike anything we’d encountered before. Menswear outerwear, you say? Sounds classic enough. But the twist? Sheer fabrics.
We were tasked with making a collection where structure and transparency played a beautiful, and sometimes unsettling, game of peek-a-boo. The inspiration was the raw vulnerability of a city ravaged by earthquake. The collection aimed to capture the emotions left in the wake of such a disaster – the anxiety, the exposure, the resilience. This translated into a fascinating mix of elements. We had classic shapes, the kind you’d find in a timeless trench coat or a bomber jacket, but reimagined with sheer fabrics that revealed the intricate puffing and padding beneath. It was a study in contrasts – the familiar silhouette juxtaposed with the unexpected transparency.
Working on this collection was a challenge, no doubt. Making the sheers hold their form while maintaining a level of transparency was an adventure in itself – as well as adding padding between the transparent layers. The tailoring was immaculate, and the amount of finishes, specialist bindings and button stands held up the luxury runway standard that the collection was marketed as.
But the end result was more than just a collection of clothes; it was a story, a conversation starter. It pushed boundaries and made us question our preconceptions of both menswear and beauty.
Looking back, Andrea Roman’s 2019 collection remains a highlight on our student initiatives path. It was a testament to the power of young, untamed creativity, and a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected materials can tell the most powerful stories.

Our Stories: Work with London Fashion Universities’ Students

With London’s esteemed fashion schools gearing up for their highly anticipated final year graduate showcases, we are starting on new projects designed by final years of those universities. These prestigious events draw the attention of industry leaders – renowned editors, astute buyers, and influential figures – eager to discover the next generation of fashion talent.
At B Fashion Studio, we hold a deep commitment to cultivating the future of the fashion industry. Recognizing the immense potential and innovative spirit of design students, we are proud to announce the continuation of our collaborative programs with leading London fashion schools.
Building upon successful partnerships with institutions such as London College of Fashion, Regents University, Westminster and Instituto Marangoni, our past collaborations have yielded impressive results.
Today we want to recall one of those initiatives, which resulted in a wonderful collection of Natalia Esteve Garcia Ancyra, a 2019 graduate of Instituto Marangoni. Her intricate menswear collection uses meticulous tailoring and bold print to convey the essence of the hidden inner selves stained by addiction and other ways of self-concealment. Natalia is one of the very talented students we got to work with on our way, and her final show, New Era, is an ode to the path she took as a raising designer.

The Art of Luxury Activewear

At B Fashion Studio, we understand that activewear is about embracing an elevated movement experience. We specialize in curating luxury activewear that transcends the realm of typical gym clothes, offering a level of quality, performance, and design that empowers you to push boundaries in style for our activewear clients.

But what truly sets luxury activewear apart from its more affordable counterparts?

Fabric

Luxury activewear starts with the foundation – the fabric. The finest, high-performance fabrics are both luxurious and functional – they shouldn’t scratch or crease. Buttery-soft materials that move seamlessly with your body, whether you’re mastering a downward dog or crushing a HIIT session. These premium fabrics often have unique properties, like antimicrobial finishes for odor control or built-in UV protection for outdoor workouts.

Seams

Seams are more than just functional joins. In luxury activewear, they become an integral part of the design and comfort experience. Flatlock seams, a signature of high-end garments, lie flat against the skin, eliminating chafing and irritation that can plague you during intense workouts. Speciality ballpoint needles need to be used to prevent snags and tears. Stitches needed for the garment to remain flexible, such as flat lock, zigzags or multiple-thread overlocks require specialist machinery. Some of our brands use muscle-mapping pattern cutting to ensure correct stretching of the fabric in zones used during workouts – that’s why attention to detail is particularly important during manufacturing process.

Elasticity

Unlike the often-uncomfortable elastic used in mass-produced activewear, luxury garments utilize high-quality, four-way stretch fabrics. This allows for a perfect balance of support and flexibility. The elastic provides gentle compression for muscle support during exertion, crucial for injury prevention and peak performance. Luxury elastics retain their shape and hug your curves comfortably, ensuring a flattering and functional fit.

Ultimately, luxury activewear offers an experience that goes beyond the physical garment. It’s about feeling confident, empowered, and ready to conquer your workout. From the meticulously chosen fabrics to the intricate details, every element is thoughtfully sewn and finished to elevate your active lifestyle.

Our Stories: Investing in Quality

While brand names and labels hold weight, it’s the subtle art of the finish that truly separates the fleeting allure of trends from the enduring elegance of real fashion. This guide unveils the secrets of luxury finishes, empowering you to discern garments crafted with meticulous attention to detail from those produced with a commercially driven approach.
How to tell the craftsmanship from a basic production finish:

  • High-Quality: Examine the stitches. They should be even, fine, and consistent, often in a contrasting color to showcase the garment’s construction. Look for details like French seams, which encase raw edges for a refined, finished look.
  • Low-Quality: Uneven, visible stitching, particularly in contrasting colors, can indicate rushed production and lower quality control.

Always look at the hardware:

  • High-Quality: Buttons, zippers, and other hardware should be sturdy, well-constructed, and seamlessly integrated into the garment.
  • Low-Quality: Flimsy buttons, plastic zippers, or hardware that feels light or cheap are often hallmarks of commercially produced garments.

Inspect the details closely:

  • High-Quality: Look for subtle details that speak of meticulous craftsmanship, like piping, hand stitched elements, or embroidery. These elements add a touch of exclusivity and showcase the dedication to detail that defines luxury.
  • Low-Quality: Avoid garments with a generic look or poorly applied details that appear mass-produced and lack a sense of refinement.

A luxury finish isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s an investment in a garment designed to last through years of wear, fit you like a glove, and provide a sense of timeless sophistication. By honing your eye for these subtle details, you’ll learn to choose garments that not only build your personal style but also reflect your appreciation for quality and aesthetic sense.

Our Stories: Flawless Fit Through Rigorous Iteration - Toiling

The transformation of a design from concept to garment hinges on a critical yet often under-discussed stage: sample fitting.
This process transcends mere size verification, meticulously shaping a wearable prototype that embodies the client’s vision while adhering to stringent quality standards.

Phase 1: Pattern Scrutiny
We start with receiving the client’s designs, a thorough technical review of the accompanying patterns commences. Our team meticulously analyzes linework of the pattern, seam allowances, and construction details for accuracy and compatibility with the chosen production methods.

Phase 2: Toile – The Mockup Garment
The cornerstone of the fitting process is the toile. Crafted from inexpensive replacement fabric with similar qualities to the one used in the final design, this initial garment serves as a three-dimensional representation of the design. Its purpose is to check the silhouette accuracy, drape evaluation, and proper sizing based on industry standards and target audience considerations.

Phase 3: Precise Evaluation
The fitting session includes a fit model whose size aligns with the intended production size range. During this time, a rigorous evaluation of the toile takes place. Every detail, from armhole placement to sleeve functionality, is meticulously scrutinized for adherence to the client’s specifications and for potential comfort, movement, or aesthetic concerns. The fitting is conducted personally by our CEO usually assisted by a pattern cutter responsible for creating the garment’s pattern. We maintain a professional yet collaborative environment for open communication and client feedback.

Phase 4: Iterative Refinement
This fitting is a cornerstone of the iterative process. Based on the feedback, a detailed report outlining necessary adjustments is prepared and directed to the pattern maker and a tech pack designer. Our skilled patternmakers meticulously refine the original pattern, addressing noted concerns regarding fit, ease of movement, and overall visual harmony.

Phase 5: Continuous Optimization
The iterative nature of sample fitting ensures continuous optimization. A new toile is created based on the revised pattern, and the fitting process recommences. This cycle continues until both we and the client are demonstrably satisfied with the fit and functionality of the sample.

Phase 6: The Final Prototype
Once the toile achieves the desired form, the creation of the final sample commences. This sample is made with the use of the original fabrics, allowing for a final evaluation of drape, texture, and overall aesthetic alignment with the client’s vision.

Our Stories: Quality Appraisal Step-By-Step

The realm of haute couture and luxury fashion thrives on the promise of unparalleled quality and flawless execution. We, as a sampling studio, need to be able to provide that quality to our clients. Thus, before these captivating creations make their way back to our client-designers, they undergo a rigorous quality control process. This meticulous approach ensures every stitch, seam, and detail adheres to the uncompromising standards of luxury fashion.

Within the walls of B Fashion Studio, our dedicated team of highly skilled experts in luxury production thoroughly inspects sample garments.  Here’s a breakdown of the quality control measures employed to guarantee each piece lives up to the essence of luxury:

1. Material Evaluation:
The process commences with a comprehensive evaluation of the fabric. Our cutters meticulously examine the material for any inconsistencies in texture, weave, or color variations. Even the slightest imperfection can disqualify the material from being used in a couture garment or hold back a production piece.

2. Pattern Verification:
The pattern, the foundation upon which the garment is built, undergoes a scrupulous review. Our cutter and machinists meticulously verify if all pattern pieces meet precise measurements, seam allowances, and overall balance. Any deviations from the design specifications that could lead to fit issues are promptly addressed with our clients.

 3. Construction Assessment:
Once the garment assumes its initial form, a team of highly skilled seamstresses meticulously scrutinize the construction. Every seam is assessed for its strength, visual properties, and finishing techniques.  Buttonholes, zippers, and embellishments undergo rigorous inspection to ensure flawless application and functionality.

 4. Fit Validation:
Fit reigns supreme in the realm of luxury fashion. We provide the fitting service within the walls of our studio, in which our CEO evaluates the look of the garment herself on a live model chosen by the designer, often accompanied by a pattern expert. They meticulously assess drape, silhouette, and how the garment moves with the wearer.  Any adjustments necessary to achieve a perfect fit are documented for subsequent production stages.

5. Detail Verification:
The final quality control phase focuses on the intricacies of the finished piece. Inspectors meticulously scrutinize details such as button placement, thread consistency, and the overall aesthetic appeal.  Imperfections as subtle as a misplaced bead or a slightly uneven hem are identified and rectified.

Our Stories: How We Collaborate with Embroidery Studios to Enhance Luxury Garments

At B Fashion Studio, we believe that luxury lies not just in the quality of fabrics but in the exquisite details that elevate a garment. That’s why we always partner with the finest embroidery studios in London to bring our clients’ visions to life through the timeless art of embroidery.

We seamlessly collaborate with embroidery studios to create truly unique and captivating fashion pieces:

  1. It all begins with a detailed instruction from the designer. Our clients provide us with their idea for the garment, the desired embroidery style, and its intended placement on the garment. Understanding these specifics is crucial for achieving the perfect result.
  2. Our skilled pattern cutters then cut the fabric into precise garment pieces ready for the magic of embroidery.
  3. Our clients select the embroidery studio whose expertise and style best aligns with the project’s requirements.
  4. Before the garment pieces are sent to the studio, we provide comprehensive instruction as to its correct placement according to the designer’s will.  Clear communication is key to ensuring the embroidery work perfectly complements the garment and matches the designer’s vision.
  5. Upon receiving the embroidered pieces, we carefully inspect them to ensure the execution is flawless and aligns with the initial design intent.
  6. In our studio, we expertly assemble the garment, applying the finishing touches that elevate it to a true work of luxury fashion art.

Embroidery adds a level of dimensionality, texture, and opulence to a garment. It can embody a brand’s story, reflect a designer’s unique artistic style, or add a touch of personalization that elevates a fashion piece to a cherished heirloom. It’s also another staple of the luxury level fashion since ages.

By encouraging our clients to collaborate with London’s top embroidery studios, we ensure that every embroidered detail is executed with unparalleled skill and precision. So, this London Fashion Week, let your style speak volumes in the softest murmur, leaving a lasting impression long after the lights fade.

Our Stories: Textile Selection for Luxury Sector Brand

For designers in the luxury, couture, and high-end streetwear arenas, fabric selection transcends the means of aesthetics. It’s a strategic decision impacting garment functionality, longevity, and ultimately and the wearer’s experience. Here, we delve into the intricacies of choosing the perfect textiles for smart design and visual harmony.

Luxury and Couture: Prioritizing Quality and Craftsmanship

  • Fiber Focus: Natural fibers reign supreme due to their production costs. Opt for high-grade silks, f.e. charmeuse or chiffon for fluidity, dupion or taffeta for texture.
  • Formalwear and Gowns: Prioritize drape and structure. F.e. silk faille is a great textile for structured gowns. Even tulles come in a multitude of weights depending on their purpose. Explore unique weaving techniques like double-faced fabrics for added depth and visual intrigue.
  • Tailored Construction: For suits and jackets, high-quality wool blends with a slight drape are essential. Unique weaves and texture is what will make it stand out, so knowledge about different weaves adds to the design edge.

High-End Streetwear: Balancing Functionality with Aesthetics

  • Material Mashup:  Look for high-performance fabrics that deliver comfort and movement without compromising on style.
  • T-Shirts and Sweatshirts: Standard cotton weaves can sometimes not be enough for design requiring flexibility. Pima cotton offers a luxurious feel, organic cotton blends with elastane provide comfort and stretch. Japanese jerseys are a new advancement in the premium sector.
  • Technical Innovation: For trousers and joggers, explore technical fabrics like Tencel for breathability and drape. Experiment with high-density cotton twills for a structured look or Japanese selvedge denim.
  • Outerwear Redefined: Sustainable alternatives like recycled polyester or innovative bio-nylon offer eco-conscious options for high-end streetwear jackets. Water-resistant finishes on technical nylons ensure functionality without sacrificing aesthetics. The advancements in bio-textiles have created a range of new opportunities in the design innovation field.

Professional Tips for Designers:

  • Swatches are Essential: Order and keep swatches to assess drape, weight, and texture firsthand. This allows for an understanding of the material’s behavior in the design process.
  • Sustainability Matters: Explore eco-friendly fibers like organic cotton, recycled materials, or innovative bio-fabrics. The fashion industry is heading towards political and environmental changes which we as a company support and want to be a part of.
  • Durability is Paramount: Choose fabrics that can withstand wear and tear, ensuring your garments maintain their luxurious quality over time.
  • Embrace Innovation: Don’t be afraid to experiment with unconventional fabric combinations, unique weaves, or high-tech finishes to push boundaries and elevate your designs.
  • Expert Guidance: Consult textile specialists on sourcing and the technical properties of various fabrics.

By mastering materiality, designers can translate their vision into garments that transcend mere fashion.

Our Stories: The Mathematics in Hand Finishing -Why Millimeters Matter in Luxury Fashion

The finishing touches, often done by hand, are what elevate a garment from good to great. But forget flowing artistry. Hand finishing is a precise science. Millimeters create the difference. Every stitch, fold, and curve in a luxury garment is meticulously planned and executed based on precise measurements. Even a single millimeter off can throw off the balance and clean lines that define high-end fashion.

Scaling up and down matters as well. Every garment which isn’t bespoke come in multiple sizes. The details which are hand finished need to be translated flawlessly. The electronic grading system changes the pattern pieces sizes accordingly to the measurements, but the size of labels, embroidery, buttons, trims, etc. does not change.

That’s why all the pieces have to be measured and marked while in production, to ensure that the placement is correspondent to other sizes and doesn’t throw off the balance of the design, nor intervenes with any stitching or other garment details.

Details like pocket placement, buttonholes, and even label positioning need to be adjusted proportionally  to ensure they complement the specific dimensions of each size.  A perfectly centered label on a size small would look out of place on a larger size, for example.

This laser focus on precision might seem like the opposite of artistic freedom. But it’s actually the foundation that allows the artistry and craftsmanship to shine. Precise measurements create a solid framework for the skilled artists to display their work. The result? Garments that drape flawlessly, flatter the wearer, and exude an air of effortless luxury.
